As reported in the Augusta Chronicle, a whites only basketball league plans to launch in twelve cities across the United States. The kicker in this story is the joke of a Commissioner named, Don “Moose” Lewis that the league will only be for whites and not colored players. Additionally, the league will ban all foreigners, even those that may be white.
In an effort to not come off as not a complete racist (JOKE) he says he doesn’t “hate anyone of color. But people of white, American-born citizens are in the minority now.” Showing his true colors by following that comment with his thoughts on the state of whites in the game of basketball, “a league for white players to play fundamental basketball, which they like.”
The (cough, cough racist) Commissioner revealed some other appalling quotes…
Lewis said he wants to emphasize fundamental basketball instead of “street-ball” played by “people of color.” …
“Would you want to go to the game and worry about a player flipping you off or attacking you in the stands or grabbing their crotch?” he said. “That’s the culture today, and in a free country we should have the right to move ourselves in a better direction.”
